Built in 1888 it was originally the home of Reverend John A Deal, a missionary
who established all of the Episcopal Churches in western North Carolina.
He also established the first lending library in Franklin, out of this home.
The next owner, Robert L. Porter, an influential Franklin businessman, resided
in the home from 1910 until his death in 1912. After his death, his widow
Florence Porter built several additions and turned the property into the first
tourist home outside the city limits of Franklin, NC. The “Oak Hill Hotel” as it
was called, operated until 1928. She also built 5 guest cottages, of which one still
remains and has been completely restored.

fully restored to offer you every modern
