Wilmington

Chief port of North Carolina, it is the region’s major trade and retail center.  Manufacturing, tourism, and port-oriented business lead the area’s growth. Wilmington is also deep in history, eight years before the Boston Tea Party, the citizens of Wilminton kept the British from unloading their stamps for the Stamp Act.  Also, in 1781, Cornwallis held the town as his main base of operation for almost a year.  During the Civil War, blockade runners brought fortunes in goods past Federal ships lying off Cape Fear.

Wilmington was North Carolina’s biggest town until 1910, when rairoad-fed industries of the inland Piedmont area outgrew the limited facilities of the harbor.  The channel, harbor, and expanded port facilities bring goods from throughout the world to the area.

Wilmington is one of the most beautiful cities on the North Carolina coast.
You can browse the quaint shops in the downtown area,or just take a "southern style stroll" down streets rich in architecture. When the evening is about to fall, sit down at the Riverfront Park and enjoy the view.

At night there are lots of things going on as well.Enjoy fine dining-from fresh seafood to international cuisine.Jazz, blues, & varied entertainment complete the night scene.
