There are more than 12 wrecks to explore in the shallow waters between Duck and Hatteras Village.These wrecks can be viewed without scruba gear.A snorkel and mask is all that is needed.Inquire at any of the local dive shops for their exact location.Below are a few wrecks and their location.
THE TRIANGLE WRECKS:Located off milepost #7 at "KILL DEVIL HILLS" south of the sea ranch,all in 20 feet of water.
THE USS HERON:Located off "NAGS HEAD" at a depth of 25 feet.
THE U-85:Located off "BODIE ISLAND" at a depth of 100 feet
THE LST 471:Located just north of Rodanthe Fishing Pier in 15 feet of water,approx. 100 yards off shore.
